overflowing drains
in Talkback
hello my name is mick i have just joined gardeners world website myself and my wife moved into our bungalow 4 yrs ago and the first thing i decided to do was move the existing shed which sat on an 8ft by 6ft piece of the garden so i could dig it over and create a veg patch for me and my 3yr old grandson after digging about 3/4 of it i discoverd a manhole under where the shed sat about 6inches under the soil when we tested the toilet and taps we discoverd it was blocked and overflowing onto the garden when we had it jetted and cleared apparantly it had been overflowing for at least a year if not longer can i still use the land to grow veg or do i need to do something with the soil first because of the sewerage

In days gone by it would have been put on the garden.
If there are any bugs in there they must be all yours after 4 years. No worries. Here in the sticks we have septic tanks and a much closer relationship with it all
Keep the manhole where you can get at it, covering it with soil is always a poor choice. (I realise that wasn't you)
In the sticks near Peterborough
