can i top my chillie and pepper plants?

Iv got a chillie plant and a pepper plant iv grown from seed, iv no pics but are doing loverly there inside under cfl grow lights , nice and warm and light, and are wondering if i can top them to keep them short and bushy,,,thanks garden people,

    Do you want to keep them a manageable height under the lights? The problem with restricting non-bush variety plants is that you also restrict your potential crop.

  • Iv never heard the term non - bush , , ok so if j top them will the stem double into two?
  • Also if i lose height and crop ,could i train them ( tie them down abit to lower height but keep crop)

    I thought you were supposed to pinch out the tip to encourage them to bush out and produce more fruit.  image
