Cosmos flowering

My Cosmos which I grew from seed are producing masses of healthy green foliage instead of flowering. Why is this ?

Too much nitrogen feed and not enough potash feed. Try tomato plant food

I have grown Cosmos too and they should have been pink but were all white image They have been flowering for a while, but there was one in the garden that had grown to about 4' tall and not flowered - a bit like yours.  Yesterday it flowered.....and it was pink!!!!  It might just not be ready to flower yet?  I couldn't believe this one flowered as like you I thought it wasn't going to and I hadn't noticed the buds.

Thank you Verdun. Thats just what I have been doing. Overwatering cosmos, in a pot, and wondering when flowers will appear.image

This gardening lark is soooooo confusing.......I spend most of my time worrying that plants haven't been watered enough and will die, when I fact some just don't want water, they should all come with watering instructions image Thanks Verdun image

  • Will they flower in poor soil?

yes i think they will craig, my trouble is i have improved my soil so much i'm now worried mine won't flower. I started mine from the seed of one i bought last year and i remember it said on the tag to hardly ever water them in the ground, my last years one was planted in clay soil.
