Mini Cucumbers

I am growing cucumber ridge 'Perfection' for a bit of fun, as have never grown the little 20cm ones before.  The plant is growing in the perfect spot inside and is very healthy with plenty of little fruits growing all over - but thats the problem.  They don't appear to want to get bigger any time soon.   Is it better to remove as much leaf as you dare to encourage fruit growth like tomatoes?

Ridge cucumbers are for growing outside - are yours being pollinated?

I believe you can grow Perfection ridge in a GH but you will need to pick them smaller than outdoor ones otherwise others won't mature. Some small / tiny  ones will yellow and drop off if not pollinated or plant has too many on it. This happens with my cumbers.

They aren't a lunchbox size variety.

Don't remove leaves unless they are diseased or pale and sickly. Make sure you look for monsters lurking at the back they restrict growth of new ones image

  • Thanks Dove - I am growing it under shelter 'outhouse' style not in the house, but the fruits are forming and the yellow flowers are lovely.  However I am moving it outside as an experiment now!

  • KEF thanks also.  The plant is now being repositioned outside in a large pot with supports at the ready.

I will look out for monsters...and buy a bigger lunchbox! image
