Hi Bamboogie, they breed themselves but we do try and provide a good habitat for all these creatures. Catching the privet HM emerging was luck but we run moth traps every few weeks and most of the photos are taken then. Mostly by OH as my camera skills are deficient
Oh do you use a sodium lamp and white sheet? some friends tried that, but just seemed to get Mozzies! I guess like you say, need to create the right habitat first.

Great pics of caterpillars and moths
How exciting to have seen them
A reward for good wildlife gardening I think!
Yes Bamboogie, lamp and white sheet. Wildlife habitat creation is big here.
It's dragonfly/damselfly time now.

Wow, wow, wow - the picture on the hand gives an idea of the impressive size.
Yes, I've seen lots of dragonflies cruising around the garden too in the last week or so.
They are enormous Forester but this pic is from last year and I can't remember whose hand that is which doesn't help in assessing size

Obviously not a gardener's hand - the fingernails are clean!
Good point, not mine then
Though I do shower it all off at the end of the working day
Might have been caught at one of those clean moments
