Strawberries

I have a few strawberry plants that have runners, and I would like to know when to seperate and also how far apart should I plant them when they have been seperated.

    Hi, AEE,

Are you growing them in pots or the ground. It's a tad bit easier if in the ground, the new plants nearer the mother plant are your best one's and can be pegged into the ground to root and then once rooted the runner cut and the new plant grows.

If in pots, the runners trail down the pot and can't be pegged into the ground, there are things you can do in this case.

Need a bit more information about whether they are being grown in pots or the groundimage

They are in pots but as I have not got much ground soil they where/are going to be grown in boxes 120 cm x 60 cm x 20 cm

My strawbs are in containers on the terrace and I don't have any trouble profiting from runners. Put a container with mix in it next to the mother plants, pin the runners into the mix in the new containers, cut free when appropriate, transplant to their new home when appropriate.
