Green Manure Planting Question?
in Fruit & veg
I would like to know if it would be possible to layer down some coardboard over a large area that is now bare ground, after chickens been on it and then cover that area with say several inches of coir. I'd then sow onto that, will the green manure crops roots just grow straight through down through it and will it help keep the weeds down having the cardboard base?... or shall I just put coir down and plant into that?

I'd dig the soil over and sow my green manure direct into the soil. It can then be turned over and incorporated into the soil, improving the structure, when the time comes.
I see no reason for laying cardboard and coir over garden soil.
