Bindweed in lounge

I have bindweed  growing from a whole under floor level behind my skirting. As it's indoors and I have a young child can any one recommend a safe killer to use that will get the roots. Just don't want anything toxic remaining round to be inhaled but also want to make sure it goes

There's probably some outside as well, could you use the weedkiller there?

That brings back memories - when I was a child living in a very old and run-down farmhouse we had Ground Elder, roses and Kerria japonica coming through the skirting board into the drawing room!!!  image

I would get some weedkiller gel containing glyphosate and apply it to the leaves.  As soon as it dries it will be harmless to humans and animals.  Leave it until the leaves are brown and dead - it may take a while - that will give time for the active ingredient to have travelled down the stems to kill the roots.  Then you can pull it up.

    Hope that's helpful image

Salt is supposed to kill weeds, it was used all the time on the paths on the allotments, i assume you need to use quite alot. Is there no way of blocking the hole? image

The bindweed had gone up within the timber framed walls and into the roof in our last houseimage
