Euonymus

I have a number of Euonymus which are being attacked by white fly on the stems and the leaves are dropping. One is so bad I will have to dig it up. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what can I do?

How big are these white flies? Do they leave the plant in a cloud when the shrub us shaken. Or are they biggish and stay put?

Treatment would be different depending on  which.

  • I'm not sure if they are actually flies - they are more like tiny white dots that virtually cover the stems and the leaves are crisp and then drop. Sorry it isn't the best of descriptions.

Then not white flies per se. Sounds like they could either be one of the scale insects or possibly a fungus.

As I said a close up image of them would help us help you.

Try scraping one off. If it is like thin cotton wool with a black 'thing' in the centre then it is  scale.
