Hello again if you have to many weeds to compost , then burn them , they will dry out nicely this time of the year , if you can put them on a rack or pallet it seems to dry them out quicker
we are only allowed to burn in one of those dustbins with a chimney , bit of wood , newspaper , I have even used fire lighters and you can get a real good fire going that will get rid of it all
Wow - thank you all for your responses and such a lovely welcome!!
I am really grateful for all your good advice and feeling a little calmer now that I know I have you good people to set me on the right track!!
I will definitely try and weed as much as I can by hand. This is a very valid point, that the rotavator will only make things worse. I noticed a whole load of bindweed.
I am planning on building a compost heap - or compost mountain as I may have to call it later - and put some cover over it. This should be ok with all these weeds, shouldn't it? In fact it would be a gardener's faux pas to put bindweed on the general compost heap, I assume?
I have inherited a gorgeous raspberry bush and there were some lovely gladioli sticking out of the rubble...
Will post some photos as soon as I have the key to the place and have started work.
Anyway - that's it for now. I just wanted to say a big thank you to you all and a big please-don't-leave-me-now!!!! Really appreciate your help.
