Replacement Plant

  • Well I know it's a little different to what I was after, but we all know what were like when it comes to changing our minds in a GC lol

I decided to buy a 'Salix - Flamingo' to go in the pot, which will of course be staked and then I can then under-plant with seasonal bedding or some hardy Dianthus plants when they got a bit larger that I ordered a few weeks ago (currently still plug size). Decisions decisions!

I also bought a 'Pittosporum - Tom Thumb' which I think has lovely foliage, it was going to go in with the Salix but I am now thinking it would be better elsewhere.

Would you recommend keeping the Salix out of the final pot for now seeing it's been in quite a smaller one and potting it up gradually before placing it in the large pot? Or would it be okay going straight in?

  • That's what I was thinking image I might plunge it into the main pot whilst I'm potting it on that way it can still be in it's final position whilst working it's way up ... if that makes any sense lol

  • As promised I am back with how it looks.
The Salix was potted up into a larger pot and then plunged into the main pot, it will then be potted on again once it has filled the new pot.
I have also added another Chocolate Cosmos infront of the Salix (also in a pot so it can be lifted out to be over-wintered) and I finished it off with some White Viola's just so it didn't look too empty!
The Pittosporum was also potted up until I decide on it's final resting place! Whew!
Apologies for the picture quality, the light is rubbish where I am today.
