This is one of my arum lily's.  Mine are all white because when they get too big for the space I dig them up, usually in spring or autumn, and divide them.  Don't know if coloured varieties need different treatment or if indeed this is the correct way to deal with it, but it has worked well for my Arum's.  I find it sprouts up quite easily from bits of stray root when I divide one.

Just had a look at RHS website and they say divide in spring.  Would have added a link but I'm a techno-dunce, sorry.  Good luck.  image

  • mine is white as well thanks for the advice will try in spring image

  • mine is white  it has 30 blooms on it at the moment with some more flower stems showing   is this some sort of record   Fred

  • my arum lilies are only just coming through. they are in a pot and some of them have not yet shown through at all.  I'm going to make a corner   in the front garden to put them in after they have finished flowering, so maybe i'll have more luck with them then.

i divided mine three weeks ago while in flower and they are fine and still flowering

  • I split my white Arum's last Autumn, and this year they have grown 7ft tall with about 30/35 blooms, I am so delight as more are still coming up. The pieces I split have also done well, with 2/3 blooms on every one.  I ended up with 7-8 new plants, I even put one in the fish pond and that's okay as well.  I have found that they like plenty of water, my established plant lives at the bottom of the rainwater pipe that services the roof so plenty of water even if it only rains a little sorry I am unable to put a picture (no good with transferring to pc)

I stuck a load of seed into trays last Autumn and got 144 usable seedlings from one half seed tray.

No idea what I'm going to do with them all.

when i split mine there were all the little undergrounfd 'nobbles' that came off and i put them all in a pot of gravelly compost with a cloche over the top and they are all starting to come up (i also have no room for them)
