Black bugs killing Nasturtium. Help!?

Apologises if I have posted this thread in the wrong place I'm new to the site! I have a Nasturtium in a plant pot that if being consumed by small black bugs. I am fairly new to gardening so have no idea what to do? Any advice would be very much appreciated, thanks.

    Hi Jessica image

Blackfly - they've got my nasturtiums too, the little horrors.  image  You can spray them with a weak solution of washing up liquid and water - I find Ecover the best - that will kill them off and won't harm the plants.

  • Thank you, I shall give that a try! image

  • Jessica, these are aphids that are particularly attracted to nasturtiums. Personally, I would spray the plants with 'Bugclear'.....it's systemic and one spray will  last for six weeks. You may be against spraying and I can understand that, but 'Bugclear' is about as environmentally friendly as you can buy.

If you eat your nasturtiums, perhaps you may not wish to spray, although it is permissible after a short spell, according to the directions.
