Weeds to lawn

I'm helping my sister as she has so many Weeds in her back garden so was wondering could she put weed killer down and then how long does she have to wait before she could lay the ready made grass rolls or sods, any advice please

Glyphosate weedkillers are reasonably safe because they break down quickly after you apply them, and don't remain in the soil to harm other plants.  The usual recommendation is to wait at least a week after application before cutting the weeds down & replanting or turfing etc.  Depends a bit on the weeds though - tough things like brambles or nettles will need more than one application of weedkiller to deal with them properly.  First identify your weeds - then, as Artjak says, best read the label... image

Water, water and more water Sandy24. New turf is thirsty stuff. I laid some last summer and lost it due to the hot dry conditions. I'd wait as Verdun says. It's a good year for weeds, sadly! Our lawn has never had so many. Was going to use weed and feed, but am worried the birds might eat it and be poorly.

We had discussed that the lawn would need lots of water and she might get a hose pipe ban so it would be laid in late September, brilliant advice thanks
