riddle solved
ahhh...so then...the mystery of the dying sweet peas...the honeysuckle to their left had really really bad whitefly, sprayed for a week or so with soapy water, theyy were getting worse and moving to other plants so i got organic bug clear, sprayed for 3 weeks, still didn't go so chopped it down. could the whitefly have killed the peas?NO BUT THE !$"£*! SPRAY DID!!!!! i read, ok skim read very briefly the instructions, but when i checked further down the writing on the back i found to my horror and amazement it said 'do not use on sweet peas or begonias' so, on the 'what have i learned this year in the garden' thread i will put 'read the instructions PROPERLY!!! huge apologies for being such a prize twit, especially to poor David whose life I have pestered out and whose advice was spot on, I'm relieved to find out at least I can have my peas next year the garden is very much lacking without them

Rosemummy, I'm pleased to know that you've solved your SP problem.
I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum to you, my children are all grown-up (I'm now blessed with 2 grandchildren)...so I do have the t-shirt.
With the above in mind I would suggest leave gardening matters until you have the time to enjoy it (what time, I hear you say) because gardening is relaxation that should be enjoyed.
Trust me, sooner than you think, the children will understand that mummy needs her own time.
Good luck!
Oh RM, what a nightmare. I can't believe that a spray would affect just 2 groups of plants like that. I'm glad you solved the mystery but obviously very sorry for your hard work being wasted
If it's any consolation, I think it was my fault I killed off all my pears as I sprayed too strong a solution of washing up liquid on them.
We are all learning and sometimes the best way (long term) is to learn by our mistakes, at least we'll remember it and not do it again.
Final point.....YOU ARE NOT A PRIZE TWIT!!! You are a busy mummy with babies, there is a difference
"Final point.....YOU ARE NOT A PRIZE TWIT!!! You are a busy mummy with babies, there is a difference"
Oh yes, so true.....why can't I think of sensible things to say like that?
Hmmmm......you're a man??? I'll get my coat
Enormous hugs to you all for that, having a very hard day so you all being understanding is so nice
I know babies are demanding and take up so much of your time, I'm just surprised you manage to squeeze in time for gardening at all, rosemummy.
So sorry for being such a grouch!
David i never thought you were being, I used to have a full time job and a horse, who I took to local shows, travelled all over the country yo see bands...I' m not much of a one for not being busy, it is hard though as I daren't get stuck into anything when I know in 5 minutes I'll be wanted so I only do little bits, I can' t believe such tiny gardens have completely overwhelmed me though, and I can' t believe that spray killed something that only got hit downwind !
You weren't being a grouch David
Hope you have a better day today RM x
Typical wimmin, what about my aforementioned bad day?
Humph!
