Pink Climbing Rose, not what I thought it was!

Good Evening!

I seem to frequenting the forum a lot this year with mystery Roses lol However I promise this the final one!
My Grandad gave me a rooted climbing rose cutting last year which although it has barely put on any growth, has indeed flowered. I was going to cut them off so the plant could focus its energy on growing but I couldn't resist seeing what the flowers looked like!
Upon receiving the Rose he told me it was Rose 'Hiedelberg', however after looking it up on the internet you can see that the shade of pink is completely different.
Any ideas what it could be? I know it's a very slim chance lol

The colour reminds me of Mme Caroline Testout  but colour on the internet isn't reliable and there are so many other factors, bud and petal shape and number, leaves, etc etc etc

  • As you can see the 'plant' is still really just the rooted cutting with a couple of shoots coming off.
Here are some photo's I just managed to take, their doesn't appear to be any thorns but I remember on my Grandads main plant that there are thorns on that, straightforward as always lol

I agreewith Dove.   Internet colour is not to be relied upon.

If it behaves like grandad says, take his word for it.  All that matters is that it's a good, healthy rose and will flower well.   Look after it well and it will.

  • True but I do remember him saying he had a different growing close by and he does have one that is a darker pink, so I'm thinking he got them both mixed up.
  • Oh yes I know, I just like to know what things are or it bugs me lol
