Vertical gardening
Hi
I have a small strip of land next to a deck and want to install a vertical garden framework of ferns. It is shady, up against a fence, overlooked by my neighbour. I really fancy a 'blade' water feature in the middle. This would create a pleasant sound and draw the eyes down a bit.
Has anyone had experience of using ferns this way- someone said growing from plugs is quite difficult but they grow better in the long run.
Any advice gratefully received.

I found this. I've been toying with doing one on my brick shed for ages. going to the Tatton Show next month so hoping there might be some inspiration there. This page list suitable ferns

Thank you very much for the link - very inspirational! Hopefully the Tatton Show may have some ideas for you.
Most ferns have a bigger root ball and need a bigger receptical to grow in. Here's a link to an American Company that sells a modular system that has modules with larger cells. http://verticalgardeningsystems.com/living-wall-planter-10-plant-cells-p-99.html
