i don't know the name of the conifers all i know is that they are a very brite green , they are feathery when alive and very spikey when they are dying. when i brought them they were about 10-12 inches high, the pots are only about 4 inches across.

That's too small a pot to support a plant that size. Is that the size they came in? The average garden centre plant is pot bound when you buy it. They survive in a nursery, being watered an given food but when they get in the real world they can't cope

I reckon it's really difficult to keep conifers happy in such small pots.  They dry out while your back's turned, freeze solid in the winter and blow over all the time!  If you turn one of your conifers out of its pot you'll probably find its roots are completely filling it.  Repotting any which are still alive into bigger pots should make it easier to keep them going.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

My large bright green conifer is dying. It is a number of years old. I did notice some webs on the branches during the winter but thought they were just spider webs, but now I am wondering if has been attacked by something else. If so, will it spread to neighbouring trees?
