I have some potatoes from this years' crop that are green. I know I can't eat them, but a friend of mine says keep them and use them as seed potatoes next year. Is this a safe / wise thing to do?
Yes, they will be fine for use as seed potatoes, if you can keep them cool enough for long enough (otherwise they will sprout far to early.) There's a risk of them harbouring viral diseases, which is why it's recommended to buy fresh seed potatoes each year. No harm in trying though.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
