Laurel hedging

I have recently planted a hedge made up of common laurel and cherry laurel does this matter at all, it wasn't intentional and only realised once I had googled the names they were two different types of laurels?

  • I think you will find there is no difference - they are both prunus laurocerasus, which can be known both as Common or Cherry laurel.
  • The only difference I noticed was the leaves are slightly bigger on what I thought was a common laurel?

There are dozens of clones of Cherry Laurel with varying sizes of leaf, you may have two different clones.
