carrots not long enough
in Fruit & veg
I've been growing carrots and i pulled one up today to find it wasn't very long. If i put it back in the ground will it carry on growing?

No. Once pulled, carrots just develop a thicker skin; in fact, it may do more harm than good... Once you expose the 'skin' to air, it kind of breaks the growing habit.
How can I vouch for this?
Guess who tried it...?

How long is not long enough? Nantes are stump rooted carrots reaching a maximum of 6" in ideal conditions.

That's normal for a Nantes - up to a maximum of 6 inches - they're an early cropping carrot - for a larger maincrop carrot try Autumn King http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/plants/plant_finder/plant_pages/8692.shtml
