Thanks, I'm very tempted by cloesgran's water jetting scarer but don't want long pipes draped all over the garden so I will do a bit of googling and see what comes up
I have now resorted to a water pistol, great fun, I managed to zap the cat 3 time this morning, I have 2 cats of my own but they don't go out so get really p******d off with this one, I don't have a water tap outside so can't put one of those Animal Deterrents so I just hope the cat gets the message.
I too have a water scarecrow which has proved very successful. Having read various reviews, don't be seduced by cheaper options of the original Contech water scarecrow as they appear to be a waste of money. I liked the idea that they were moveable and 24/7. I move mine around the a garden to protect areas mainly from foxes - protecting the patio from being fouled, young seedlings I have planted out, newly planted bulbs etc. My mum uses hers to scare off herons from her pond. I have no deer but deer are listed on the box so it should work for them.Although they run on a battery, it lasts for ages. You just have to remember to turn it off when you go into the garden as it will give you a shower!!
Ive ordered a water pistol to come with my next home grocery delivery it will have two uses first to get my two terriers when they bark too much in the garden and second for any cats anywhere within ten metres of the garden. I cant wait, it so appeals to my sense of humour. I remember my youngest son pointing his super soaker water gun at our elderly neighbour she asked would he soak her. I prayed not holding back a fit of giggles.. I had to talk this cheeky two year old out of this situation.
the two methods we use for cats are Catshoo ( scaredy cat plants ) they are okay until you brush past them and then the aroma from them is not pleasant they grow in pots aswell as flower beds and if it is a paved area just brush over with a diluted solution of jeyes fluid once a week .
