I've got a flower bed with quite a few pink mellows, which are growing in height quite nicely, but now I've noticed a lot of the flowers are starting to turn blue around the edges and are looking like wet rags ....any ideas
I've grown these from seeds collected from plants last year

That's just what they do when the flowers are fading, particularly if they're rained on.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
these are new blooms and I had no problems with the plants last year.... the only difference this year is that I seem to have a total lack of flying insects, bees etc.
