drunk squirrels?

Something is emptying the beakers of beer I am attempting to trap slugs with in the veg garden.  I fill them up at night, well dug into the soil, next day I find them empty and most removed and left flung round the garden!  Today one was just almost empty but still in situ, the others tossed away.  I have rabbit wire all round the veg patch.  Has anyone any idea who the culprit bent on getting drunk every night might be?

Made me smile too, at a guess I'd say it's probably a drunk hedgehog scratching around and eating the slugs in the traps.

Could be foxes?. They can climb over six foot fencing even if they can't dig through chuck wire.

Is it too late to join this debate?

In my garden I have several shallow oblong slug beer traps which work reasonably well. The dilema is that, in one of the traps only, something is drinking the beer - all three compartments completely dry. To add to the mystery the lid is not disturbed. Any new suggestions please. Auds3
