dying amelanchier canadensis
I have a 40 year old Amelanchier Canadensis which is looking very poor, leaves dropping off and many dead branches. At the base of the trunk there are two plate-like fungi, white and hard and about five inches across. Is the tree simply dying from old age or is this yet another disease of trees? would it be safe to plant another tree in its place? Any suggestions would be welcome.
