..I can see you are a fellow rose lover....lol...

I've not grown Alan Titchmarsh but I've grown roses in semi shade before, even permanent shade on a north facing site.... at the moment I have two 'Austins' north facing, namely 'Thomas a Becket' and 'Tranquility'...

..Thomas has gorgeous large deep pink/magenta flowers with a fabulous old rose scent...well to my nose it is... it reminds me of my first visit to Mottisfont years ago where they grow lots of old roses with this sort of scent....   Tranquility is pure white and I couldn't resist that one... they are both planted in a shady border that will get sun only from mid afternoon in height of summer... but it's an open site... no overhang... these are recent acquisitions so time will tell if they thrive there but I sometimes think Austin roses look better in semi shade as the colours can bleach in hot sun...

  • I think it would do well, I have one and it is a good colour, fragrance and grows well.
