Annoying viney growth in my lawn
Hi all - I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, as I need an ID and some problem solving!!
I'm not really a keen gardener, but I do like to keep things tidy. I was mowing my lawn last night when I came across a strange viney growth that seems to have spread across most of the lawn in the short period since I last mowed. I have quite wet clayey ground, so I'm guessing that is why it has grown so quickly.
So, what do I have, and how do I deal with it? I know these sort of things can be quite difficult to deal with, but clearly I need to before it chokes my whole lawn!

Hi Ian
That's creeping buttercup, it roots as it goes

Well that was quick, thanks
Is it difficult to deal with?
Use a Weed & Feed treatment in the spring - that should sort it out.

Ah, not one of my skills I'm afraid. I like them in there but someone will come and advise you very shortly I'm sure

Thanks all, much appreciated
Hi
Creeping Buttercup is a sign of damp poorly drained ground. I suggest you improve the drainage of the lawn to prevent it coming back if you get rid of it with weedkiller.
I find it better to wait until the spring. If you do use weed & feed in the summer you need to do it when the weather is going to be reliably overcast for a few days as otherwise the fertiliser can scorch the grass turning it brown.
You can of course water it in, but that will impact on the efficiency of the weed killer.
