Hello I have these two pots on my outdoor windowsill. The first post originally had some strawberry seedlings but they seem to be getting out competed by these other plants. Are these potato plants by any chance? I didn't plant any but had buried some potato peelings which I had left in the composter to decompose.

So this is the 2nd pot which I'm quite proud off as the plants have not stopped flowering for ages. There is a snapdragon, linaria, radish and a stock plant I think. The one I can't identify is the small compact one with pink flowers. Don't know if you can see that well.

 Thanks

The pink one looks like a silene of some sort.

I think you.re right about the potatoes - they can grow from any peeling which has an 'eye'. image

    I can't ID the 2nd one though.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • The pink looks like a bit like a helianthemum, I think. No idea about the first one, sorry!

Could the small pink one possibly be lobelia?

The flowers do but the leaves I don't think match. Also the plant is very compact and has the flower stalks are very short and close to the leaves. Not sure what it is but the hoverflies love it.

It's a silene but it's not Silene dioica

there are many different species and cultivars, annuals and perennials
