Best time of year to plant Camellia
Hi,
I have a space towards that bottom of my garden that I would like to fill with a Camellia.
I've been told that planting in the middle of summer is not a good idea, and so I was wondering what is the best time of year to plant it out would be.
Would I be ok to plant the Camellia this Autumn (October-ish), or should I wait until after the Winter and leave the spot empty until next March/April time?
Many thanks, in advance, for your advice.
Col.

I'm not sure of the best time, but I bought mine in spring from a well known discounter and planted it then. It flowered beautifully and now has lots of new growth, so if I was going to get another (which I think I will) I would probably get it in spring.
In relation to the original question, they can be planted any time that conditions are suitable -ie not in frozen or waterlogged ground [for obvious reasons] but in drier parts of the country, autumn through winter is better to help with moisture levels for establishment. In wet areas, they can go in at any time of year.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
