Ceanothus

My ceanothus flowered beautifully (as usual) in May this year, its 3rd year. It is in a pot.    I notice now tho that leaves are falling off, they are  "crispy"  & brown - is this normal? I don't remember this on previous years. Can someone please help?

see next pics coming....

How big is the pot - I imagine that after three years it will be pretty full of roots and this will stop it absorbing water - I think that it needs potting on to a bigger pot with fresh compost which will absorb and hold water.
