  • Just looked at my beautiful apricot verbascum and could not believe my eyes as it was totally bare except for a few leaves at the bottom. Even though I love my garden for it's beautiful flowers I was more than happy to sacrifice my flower spikes to this swarm of beautiful caterpillars.

  • I’m in London and just found two caterpillars on a stray wild mullein plant growing out of the paving.  Wasn’t sure what they were so have given them an overnight bed in a jar with a few leaves and some drops of water to keep them going overnight.  Just checked and they were asleep!  Now I have identified them as Mullein Moth caterpillars I will return them to the plant in the morning.  They are really beautiful creatures.
