Exochorda x Macrantha

I purchased my Exochorda x Macrantha late spring but it doesn't seem to be growing and one or two leaves appear to be going yellow.  Can anyone advise on what the problem might be?  I haven't tested the soil as I thought it was a fairly robust shrub that was happy in most soils.  Thanks.

    Thanks for the speedy response Pansyface. Much appreciated! I'm sure the soil isn't chalky but I have been watering it quite a lot during the dry spells we've had recently. Perhaps I need to stop that for a while to see if it improves.
