What is it?

I found this little chap growing near my ivy. Any ideas?

    I think it's one of those plants that's perfect for informal little wild-ish corners - it covers bare patches of soil - if it spreads where you don't want it then just pull it up. 


    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    If you grow it hard; dry soil, sun, it colours up nicely in autumn

    Don't let it anywhere near a rockeryimage or the sort of plants that grow on rockeries.

    At present he is by an ivy wall by an Euronymous
