Acers dieing?

Hi

I recently had to move some acers as we were extending a pond, we couldn't get all the roots out but did the best we could we potted them up in very large pots and they seemed ok. Now the leaves have turned brown and one has shed them altogether are they dead or may they survive? Help please.

Make sure you keep them in the shade until they have recovered; if they do.
  • That will be easier said than done as we are going away and need our son to water them so we need them near the house .I will do my best though and thank you for your response

If you need to put them in the sun, so your son can water them, see if you can provide them with a bit of artificial shade - throw some horticultural fleece over them, or even an old net curtain (if you keep such things!)

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

My Acer leaves do go brown with wind damage. Mine is by the pond.
