Ivy! Around my tree
Hi,
I have a tree in the corner of my garden with its trunk wrapped in Ivy. I dont want to harm the tree but really wanna get rid of the ivy. Ive been pulling bits off but its a quite thin so not that easy.
Does anyone have any tips or ideas?
Thanks
Jason

Cut the ivy at the base. The ivy attached to the tree will then die and will be easier to remove. Any regrowth from the base can be treated with glysophate - avaiable from most stores.
Thanks for the advice everyone.
Looks like some cutting at the base is the way forward.
Sorry pansyface, i dont mind a bit of ivy but i gave it an inch and now its taking over the whole yard
There will still be some left for the insects though, its everywhere!
Its easy to pull up from the roots if you dont want to use weedkiller, then just keep eye out and nip it in the bud in future
Thanks for all the advice on ivy. I have huge amounts everywhere I just want to clear certain areas.
