no flowers and no sign of any
last may i bought 3 siberian iris in flower and planted them in the ground in a position where they get full afternoon sun. this year the healthy looking leaves have come up but no flowers atall. have i done something wrong?
the hydrangea is in the same border but in less sunny position and in its 3rd year. i pruned out a third of the stems this year in spring and only took the flower heads off late spring. the leaves arent looking too clever on this. slightly curled and no sign of any flowers atall. have i done something wrong

..re. the Hydrangea...you appear to have pruned it correctly... the problem I've had with 'Limelight' this season is that snails have eaten the flower buds... I have one left.. I wasn't quick enough early on to salvage this... like most other people we have simply been overwhelmed this year... it's planted in shade and otherwise would have done really well... so my fault... not sure if this is what's causing your problem...
If its a paniculata, there was no need to prune in its 3rd year, they flower on this years growth so maybe you have cut the flowering stalks off, no amount of feed will bring them back, go easy on the pruning of young plants, let them get well established first.
If its not a paniculata, they bloom on older wood, which you have pruned out.
My adivise would be just leave it and you will get flowers next year.
Thanks for the advice Salino Mike and Lyn. Pansyface i meant i cut off last years flower heads having left them on over winter to protect the plant from frost.
