Can anyone identify these?

    I would agree that the first is probably from the Comfrey family, although Borage in my experience is usually darker with small white spots on and course hair on the underside, could be one of the ground cover varieties, quite good in dry shade!

    Thanks for the opinions everyone. Maybe I'll leave them til they flower and put up some more pictures.

     

    I'm not sure what to do as getting rid of these two plants will strip me back to big patches of bare soil. Maybe try and thin them out a bit as it's very dense growth from both plants, and then see what happens!

    I suggest you defo get rid of the dogs mercury, if you can, dig out all the roots and dispose, it can be bugger if it takes a hold especially on heavy soil. If the other is a Comfrey it will self seed profusely so watch out for that.
