Pots or Trough
in Fruit & veg
Hello,
I am wondering if anyone can provide any advice. My garden is laid with patio, I would like to grow some veg, I currently grow tomatoes and strawberries in pots and getting chillies in troughs.
What other fruit and veg can be grown in pots or troughs?
Hope that makes sense.

You can grow most things in pots or troughs or bags, as long as you feed and water them well, apples or fruit trees in pots brassicas in bags or pots root veg salad, stuffs, your'e only limited by space really. The only thing to remember is they'll all need feeding and watering regularly.
Awesome that's what I thought, so still able to grow stuff.
thanks for the response
I grow in pots;
* Cucumber
* Gherkin
* Potatoes
* Raspberry
* Stinging nettles (yes....for feed)
* Tomatoes
And don't forget herbs too
Awesome, I plan on growing a number off herbs, these might be done in hanging baskets, not sure yet though,
I plan on growing potatoes, cucumber, maybe carrots if possible and peppers to start with/
already growing tomatoes and strawberries, chillies in wall troughs
Why grow stinging nettles?
Do you make your own feed?
Herbs are easy, again I am a novice but grow Rosemary , Mint (must stay in pots), chives, Sage, parsley, dill, and all are pretty straight forward.
You can divide mint and chives really easy too, I did mine few weeks back so now have 6 of each - I use these round my carrots to put of carrot fly.
potatoes again easy, I grow 3 varieties, cucumbers need water and then water again, feed weekly
Well they grew by accident i assume from a bird shite into a pot and i was going to kill but can make nettle feed so i chop them down by half every few weeks and cut them up and add to big bucket of water/feed i have going,
I have lots of concrete thats ugly and I have pots and tubs and lots of raised beds. the best is the herb bed made from two scaffold boards it has 11 sorts of herbs in was 12 sorts but replaced the tall pot of mint in the centre with a tall bird bath.
In the other beds and pots have lettuces, tomatoes, various salad leaves, aubergines, courgettes, cucumbers, chillis which i bring in over winter, peppers and a few flowers.
Only thing I would say is checking underneath for slugs and snails takes forever and is very important.
Yeh my inital thought was thinking about the slugs and the craps. So need to rethink how i am going to manage that.
My only concern is if i go with chillies in the wall trough is bringing them in in the winter unless i could leave them out in a green house. thoughtS?
Indoor winter chillis do not require much attention i believe at least mine didnt.
Just trim back and do not over water in fact hardly any water.
Beechgrove garden on TV over wintered some in a greenhouse and did not have much success from memory.
My kitchen overwintered plants were really slow growers and are much better this year than last year.
