Wall Trough

Hello

I am new here so please be patient with me.

I am looking at growing some chillies. I am looking to grow them in a wall trough, the reason for this is I currently grow tomatoes and strawberries in pots which work fine, I have a daughter who is nearly 2 and she trys to pick the tomatoes and strawberries I am worrying that she may try picking the chillies if I was to put them in pots.

Does anyone know if this will work.

I think as long as it is large enough and good drainage should work great, the wall will likely radiate heat too which will help. I'd plant with the chillies slightly leaning away from wall too.

  • Awesome thanks my garden is like a sun trap and in sun all day when we get it.

What would be the benefit of slightly learning them? Sorry new to this type of thing

Same here mate, learning a lot fast though,

in my head (i might be wrong) but id lean them a touch so that no leave can touch wall incase they 'burn' them and also snails/slugs can't roam up the wall and right onto a leaf.

  • ah ok, sorry wasn't thinking of it that way lol, sounds like a good idea, I have 5 different types of chillies, (as you can tell i like them) and one is a scotch bonnet and dont fancy my daughter eating that.

Will go buy a wall trough this weekend.

Separte question, would plant feed be worth using or not.

I use tomato food once a week on my chillies when they've started flowering. image

ha same here, scotch bonnet, never grown before so can't wait, i also have a toddler so put mine up on a mini greenhouse (without the cover), no i think that might shock them image

I use tomato feed on mine weekly but only when they have flowered or have fruit.

  • Yeh she tried to eat a Jalapeno but stopped her just before so I don't want here to get scotch, I also like the Naga which i got a load dried but there under lock and key as they will prob kill her

Cheers, will get some feed, will prob need to get a greenhouse for the winter what you think?
