Laurel
We have a huge laurel hedge in our garden, and being July it is getting very overgrown. I certainly need to cut a few of the upper branches, and it is also filling out quite considerably too. I don't think using a hedgecutter on it is the answer as it is too fierce and seems to hack away at it. Any recommendations please. I don't think it has flowered at all. Sorry, not sure on the type of Laurel. It is mixed in with conifers and other hedge plants.

The best way, though time consuming, is with secateurs or loppers on thicker branches so that the leaves don't get cut. If they do they start to go brown at the cut edge and can let disease in.
Thank you. I think you are right. I am not sure though how people manage to get their Laurel hedges so neat! Even with clippers I think I am capable of making a right pigs ear of it! At least it is easier to clear up, cutting small pieces at a time
