Escallonia 'Apple Blossom' - few flowers
I have an escallonia 'apple blossom' which is probably 12 years old. I understand they flower on new wood , so every year after flowering just trim it into shape. It used to be covered in flowers but over the past few years has produced fewer and fewer. Would it stand a really hard cut back and be reinvigorated? Or has it has its day and needs to go?

I think it would be worth trying a good hard prune and feed before you decide it's had its day Calendula.
In the sticks near Peterborough
Thanks both - I will do that. Nothing to lose!
It may be different in your area, but here on the Oregon coast they generally come back from anything, as long as you prune soon after blooms fade and keep from getting too dry while it recovers. I agree with nutcutlet, cut hard, feed and hope for the best.
