Weed and Feed
My lawn looks green when just cut but within a few days is a mass of colour from low lying bugle, daisies, clover and buttercups to name the most common. So I bought weed and feed. After reading the box and the internet about this product I am shocked. I thought it would kill weeds not animals, but not so. It is so dangerous that your cat or dog shouldn't walk on it in case the poison is absorbed through their paws. Chickens can't use the lawn for weeks afterwards. Lawn mowings can't be used as mulch for several mowings in case e.g. the poison is absorbed into vegetables. So what about birds? - they walk on the grass, the pick out insects from it, they may eat the granules as grit. It must be dangerous, even fatal for them. What about worms?
I think there needs to be an item about this on Gardeners' World

I wonder if that's why a lot of us don't use these poisons Maggie

I use Resolva Lawn Weed Killer as a spray spot weeder on my lawn.It says on the bottle that children and pets can use the lawn once the spray is dry.
I used to weed, feed and moss kill all at the same time with a granular product, but now I just feed regularly with a liquid feed and spot treat any weeds so I don't use weedkiller where it is not necessary.
I've just had coffee on the lawn. Present are; white clover, dandelion, one of the knapweeds, agrimony, ragwort, black medick, self-heal, daisy, cat's ear, one of the speedwells, dog daisy, teasel, yellow bedstraw and mint. All waiting for their chance to flower and seed.
The clover, self-heal and a few daisies are flowering 5 days after a mow.
