The red one is lychnis coronaria and the other one is a curry plant.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Curry plant's latin name is Helichrysum italicum, forgot how to spell it. Lychnis seeds itself, you can scatter the seeds and it'll pop up next year.

  • Thanks Busy-Lizzie for that.Is this curry plant a perennial plant as i've not heard of it before. As for the lychnis,I've chopped it in to 3 plants this year and it's done really well.Is this a perennial or annual as,Like you say,It will self seed but will the origional plant flower next year?

Hi Graham, I would describe the lychnis as a short-lived perennial. But the best flowers for me come from the younger plants that have self seeded.

The curry plants is a shrubby helichrysum which can be hard pruned in spring
