Plant needed for round year interest for small border
in Plants
Hello. I'm new to this gardening game and I am looking for tips. I have a border about 3 feet by 30ft. There is a very well established hydrangea as well as 2 flamingo salix (I think). One of the flamingo isn't doing too well and so I was thinking of replacing it with something that will add interest all year. But is like something that's not going to take over as the hydrangea and second flamingo are. It sure of soil type but it gets sun most of day. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it a shrub you are looking for? Is it in shade or sun, dry or damp, acid or alkali? Do you want flowers or would variegated leaves be OK? Euonymous fortunei is evergreen and comes in different varieties of leaves, gold and green, silver and green. Easy to grow.

If only the weeds will grow the soil is probably lacking in fertility - weeds are good at growing in poor soil but most garden plants need more nutrition.
Regular applications of manure and Fish Blood and Bone are needed to increase the long term fertility of that border.
