What is this?

Can anyone identify this plant? It came up where I planted some 'Rip Van Winkle' daffodils several years ago. Thanks.

Some sort of rush, often appears in poorly drained pots of compost and low bits in the garden. I'll have a look and see if I can do a complete ID

I'm pretty sure it's Juncus effusus, which grows wild in damp grasslands. Some nurseries sell it too as a bog plant, but farmers probably look on it as a weed!

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I look on it as a weed as well and I'm a big grower of native plants

  • Hmmm, don't think it's a daffodil. image
