Is everyone else's plants very late this year?
Hi - I was just wondering whether everyone else's plants are very late this year? I have got aliums which haven't come out yet, roses which look nowhere near to opening, scabious that haven't even got buds yet etc. Is this a consequence of this cold, unsunny June perhaps? I have only been gardening a couple of years, but I'd say that the garden is about 4 weeks behind where it was at the same time last year. Hope it's nothing I am doing wrong....?

You're not doing anything wrong, it is jst the weather. My garden is about three weeks behind last year.
I am also struggling with some plants, established hardy plants seem to be doing better. Some seedlings will be going to the compost bin soon if we do not get some sunshine.
a lot of my perrenials are way behind even though I am feeding them !
A lot of my plants are behind where they were last year, but I'm fairly sure if we get a warm spell they'll burst in to life.
The question is will we ever get a long spell of sunshine!?
I'm in the north of Scotland and unusually my garden is ahead . My lupins are amazing this year, my scabious will be flowering by next week, mecanopsis, geum all flowering. We haven't had bad frosts for weeks nor snow which is not unheard of in June too!!
I think that everyone is facing the same issue. My strawberries are about a month behind where they would be usually.
I have kept a photographic diary from month to month for the last three years which helps with planning in the winter (because I forget how big things grow) and cheers me up with happy memories.
I can say without a doubt that my very sunny Kentish garden is at least 10 days behind last year, obviously due to the weather. Somethings also did extremely well out of all that rain including sedums, sempervivums, my Alpine Phlox, wildflower seedlings and self-seedlings and I think the Roses and Clematis kept their colour much better due to lack of harsh sunlight.
On the down side, my French beans are a million miles behind last year and my first batch of lettuce were ruined by slugs but luckily, my sweetcorn survived and my onions didn't go to seed!
I also had a small miracle when I dug up a mature flowering current in full leaf and left it hanging around for a week in wet weather before deciding to replant it and it went on to flower and fruit without batting an eyelid!
