Bark wood chippings from sawmill - is it a problem mulch/ weed cover

Hi, does anyone know if wood chippings from a sawmill would be different in some way from bark/wood chips from the garden centre? I have been told they are and release stuff on the soul casing problems for plants.

    Most building and fencing timber is impregnated with preservatives - you wouldn't want that in your garden soil.

    its not treated definitely its larch not pine.  So sounds OK I think.
