Well it's been 9 months since my last update. Life challenges sadly got in the way, but bit by bit, I have carried on with the project.
So what has happened to this corner of my garden. Well upon starting to dig I discovered I was sitting on a mix of red sticky clay and the contents of a rubble heap. Before winter I stripped off about 9 inches of the "builders top grade mix" leaving the winter to get in and then again this spring another 9 inches. In doing so I shifted about 350 bags of rubble and clay (I should have got VIP status at recycling centre).
Naturally I have now filled the large quarry I have created for myself with as much high quality soil mix I can.
My project currently stands as follows
I am currently allowing a bit of settlement so I can then top-up the beds with further compost/manure and then trellis and planting (replacing grass will be last task...need to research that further to understand drainage, given I know the ground underneath now).
I know I am making slow progress, but trying to learn on the way.
Posts
get rid of most of the bushes and put bedding plants there.
Can you give us a photo taken from a high window? Then we can see the whole thing
Yep, I will sort one out tomorrow. Your get a good idea of my garden layout.
