Identification of plant

I have a plant which has seeded itself in my garden. It is now over 7 feet tall, with purple flowers. (see photo attached)

Would anyone know what it is ?

Many thanks

Hi Maggie, It's some kind of Malva, mallow. Someone will recognise the variety

    In the sticks near Peterborough

Looks a lot like the Malva mystic merlin, that were being given away by T&M last year.

Cut it down when it has finished flowering.Mine didn't survive the winter. I don't think they are very long lived, but you may get them seeding around.
