Hi Star gaze I think the plant in your photo is an echeveria, I have 4 different ones. Like sempervivums they can cope with drought but I find they grow much better if kept watered, they aren't frost tolerant either. Here in the NE I overwinter mine in a cold greenhouse. They are also propagated from off shoots.
Yes its funny OL, i never really liked them much either, but saw the ones i got for the pot and really like them now, tho there are still some that i don't think are that great. Hope that makes sense lol.
Thank you OL, its got more flowers on it since that pic was taken, and theres another just starting to poke through. Just wondered if it should come inside for the winter, its quite big and I don't want to lose it.
It's beautiful.....might add to my wish list, it would make a lovely replacement for the Geum which is getting a new home somewhere (although I don't know where yet)
